It was a magnanimous ceremony. With pomp and amidst thousands of fans and a host of film stars, Amitabh Bachchan felicitated Chiraneevi. Despite his not so good health condition, Big B came down all the way from Mumbai to felicitate our megastar. And the scene of Big B felicitating megastar and in turn megastar paying his respect to the Big B was real ‘Kodak moment’.

The ceremony took place on April 23, 2006 at Gachchibowli stadium, Hyderabad and function began at 4 pm with artist Shobana’s special dance recital and other entertainment programmes. Even after the felicitation ended, the entertainment show continued. Fans went frenzy. Not only did Big B felicitate Chiru, but he also showered praises on him. Telugu film industry together arranged this felicitation ceremony upon Chiranjeevi getting the India’s third highest civilian award, Padmabhushan.

Everyone expected that Rajinikant would attend the ceremony but he could not come down. But hero Vikram, and yesteryear actresses Radha, Radhika, Shobana and others made it. Actress Sobhana performed a special dance on the event, which enthralled the audiences. Chiranjeevi in turn felicitated her on the occasion. Both these stars did act in Rowdy Alludu and Rudraveena.

Big B praises on Chiru

Big B Amitabh Bachchan has showered praises on Chiranjeevi. He lauded the power and stardom of megastar and his dedication towards his profession.

“I am honored to be here. It is a wonderful celebration for a great actor like Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi invited me couple of times - first time when one of his film's 100 days celebrations and then for his daughter's wedding. I could not attend them. I could not come down to his daughter's wedding due to my sudden illness. But I am glad that I was able to come down to see this grand celebration. I don’t interact with Chiranjeevi regularly but I know about his qualities, stardom and power.

Chiranjeevi is man of great humanity. His humility and has taken him on top. Once you reach the top in any profession, it becomes an obligation and necessity to serve the society. I am glad that he is doing great charity work. People tend to believe that Hindi film industry is the biggest in India and the stars there get huge money. But the fact is that Telugu film
produces largest films in India and it is the vibrant one and earns as much money a big Hindi film does or more.

So when Chiranjeevi is the megastar here, one should say he is king of our Indian film industry. I wish Chiranjeevi a huge success in the coming year. May he win Bharata Ratna in the future!”
