Congress rule and the
stewardship of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy. Mr.
Reddy said that the dreams of the farmers of
the state were going to be materialised soon
as the efforts of the chief minister in
completing the “Jala Yagnam” was bearing
fruits. He said that the barren lands
created by the earlier TDP government due to
totally neglecting irrigation and
agriculture sectors, were now turning into
greenery following the Jala Yagnam works
under progress.
He said that Dr. Reddy’s relentless efforts
to take drinking and irrigation water to the
doorsteps of the villages and farmers would
show the results shortly. He said that the
people had been seeing Sir Arthur Cotton in
the chief minister for his commitment to
complete the irrigation projects in a time
bound programme.
The Congress leader asserted that the Jala
Yagnam programme taken up by Dr. Reddy would
transform the state into ‘Harithandhra
Pradesh’, and create confidence in the
farmers that the programme was intended to
save their lives against suicides.
Contemplating to create a new ayacut of one
crore acres in the State, the Congress party
after assuming office, had initiated action
to bring 65 lakh acres new ayacut under
irrigation within five years and complete
eight projects within two years to supply
water to 16 lakh acres of land in the three
regions.
Mr. Partap Reddy expressed confidence that
Vamsadhara, Pushkara, Tadipudii, Gutpa,
Alisgar, Chokkarao LI, AMRP, Somasila,
Telugu Ganga, SRBC, Gundlkamma would supply
water to 6.75 lakh acres of land in addition
to Jhanjhavathi, Peddagadda, Pedderu,
Surampalem, Suddavagu and Veligallu schemes
provide water to 75000 acres during the
present season. He reminded that the chief
minister had proved that no force on earth
could stop the government if it had the
commitment by completing the Rubber Dam of
Jhanjhavathi and dedicating it to the nation
much before the deadline set.
Comparing the Congress Government to the
earlier TDP government, the Congress leader
reminded that it had proved its commitment
to complete the projects by allocating
Rs.1095 crore within two years as against
the TDP’s Rs.1024 crore expenditure on
irrigation sector during nine years. He
further said that YS Government had secured
clearances to 31 projects within two years
as against the 17 clearances during the
two-decade period of TDP. . |
